Privacy policy

This policy explains how Amberlow Home collects and uses your personal data when you visit amberlowhome.com or buy from us. If it ever conflicts with our Terms of Service on how we handle personal data, this policy applies.

Who we are

Amberlow Home is operated by WildLetters Lda, Rua Alfredo Allen 455, 4200-135 Porto, Portugal (NIPC PT515951625). WildLetters Lda is the controller of your personal data. Contact: support@amberlowhome.com.

What we collect

  • Account information: if you create an account, your login details, preferences and saved addresses.
  • Order information: name, shipping and billing address, email, phone number (if given), items purchased and order history.
  • Payment information: processed securely by our payment providers (such as Shopify Payments and PayPal). We never see or store your full card number.
  • Communications: messages you send us and our replies.
  • Marketing preferences: your email address if you sign up to our newsletter, and whether you open or click our emails.
  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser, device type, pages viewed and how you arrived at our site, collected through cookies and similar technologies.

How we use it, and why we're allowed to

  • To process, ship and support your order, handle returns and refunds (to perform our contract with you).
  • To send order updates and answer your questions (contract / legitimate interests).
  • To send marketing emails, only if you've opted in; you can unsubscribe at any time (consent).
  • To measure and improve our website and advertising, and to show you relevant ads (consent, where cookies require it; otherwise legitimate interests).
  • To let you post reviews of products you've bought (contract / consent).
  • To prevent fraud and keep our store secure (legitimate interests).
  • To keep accounting and tax records (legal obligation).

Who we share it with

We share only what each partner needs to do its job:

  • Shopify, which hosts our store and checkout.
  • Payment providers (Shopify Payments, PayPal) to process payments.
  • Fulfilment and shipping partners (including DSers, AliExpress sellers, CJdropshipping and their carriers) to pack and deliver your order. They receive your name, shipping address, phone number (if given) and the items ordered. Some of these partners are located in China.
  • Google (Google Ads, Google Analytics, Google Merchant Center) and Meta (Meta pixel) for advertising and analytics.
  • Shopify Email to send newsletters if you've subscribed.
  • Professional advisers and authorities where required by law, and a buyer or successor if our business is ever sold, merged or restructured.

We do not sell your personal data for money. Under some US state laws, using advertising cookies and pixels to show you targeted ads can count as "selling" or "sharing" personal data. You can opt out of this at any time on our data sharing opt-out page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as an opt-out request for that browser and device. We don't knowingly sell or share the personal data of anyone under 16.

Our relationship with Shopify

Our store is hosted by Shopify, which processes your personal data to provide and improve its services to us. Shopify also offers certain enhanced features (for example Shop Pay) that use data about your interactions with our store, other merchants and Shopify. For those features Shopify is responsible for your data and for handling your requests about it. International transfers

Some of our partners process data outside the European Economic Area and the UK, including in the United States and China. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision, or on the transfer being necessary to deliver the order you've asked for.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to run the store (for example, your cart and checkout) and, with your permission where required, analytics and advertising cookies. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie banner or your browser settings.

How long we keep it

We keep order and accounting records for as long as the law requires (in Portugal, generally 10 years). Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe. Other data is kept only as long as needed for the purposes above.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, object to or restrict certain uses, and withdraw consent at any time. To do so, email support@amberlowhome.com. We'll reply within one month. We may need to verify your identity first. You can also ask someone to make a request on your behalf; we'll ask for proof that you authorised them.

  • EU/EEA and UK: you can also complain to a data protection authority. Our lead authority is the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD, Portugal); UK residents can contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). The list of EU data protection authorities is here.
  • United States: depending on your state, you may have rights to know, delete and correct your data and to opt out of targeted advertising. Email us to use them. We'll never discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
  • Canada, Australia and New Zealand: you can access and correct your personal information and complain to your local privacy regulator if you're unhappy with how we've handled it.

Children

Our store is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from children.

Security

Our store runs on Shopify's secure platform, and all payments are encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
